Formal Request for Full Reimbursement – Improper Oil Service Resulting in Repair Costs

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to formally request reimbursement for repair costs resulting from improper oil service performed at Jiffy Lube location #151 (927 Middle Country Rd., St. James, NY) on January 13, 2026.

On that date, my vehicle (2020 Hyundai Palisade, 3.8L V6, mileage 90,208) received a Signature Synthetic Oil Change service.

Prior to this visit, the vehicle had no oil leaks and no related mechanical issues.

Immediately following this service, I began noticing active oil leaks under my vehicle. I returned to the same location four (4) separate times, where staff acknowledged that something may not have been done correctly and attempted to address the issue. Despite these attempts, the oil leak persisted.

On February 9, 2026, I brought the vehicle to another Jiffy Lube location (#1048, 1064 Middle Country Rd., Selden, NY), which operates under the same company. After inspection, that location diagnosed the issue as a leaking oil filter housing and performed a removal and replacement of the oil filter housing assembly.

The total cost of the repair was $561.42, as documented in the attached invoice.

This failure occurred immediately after the original oil change service and involved a component directly related to and handled during that service.

The problem was not present prior to the January 13 visit.

Furthermore, I provided the original location multiple opportunities to correct the issue, but the leak was not properly diagnosed or repaired.

Given these facts, it is clear that the repair expense was a direct result of improper workmanship during the initial oil change service.

I am therefore formally requesting full reimbursement of $561.42.

Copies of both invoices are attached for your review.

I hope we can resolve this matter promptly and professionally. I look forward to your response within 10 business days.

Car failure I took my car in for oil change now my oil is leaking everywhere. They broke whatever the oil fitter goes. Everything in the inside is broken. That is my issue.

Bad work job I have all spelling everywhere in the street every week. I have to cap my car with oil and antifreeze.

They installed oil filter wrong and I have oil all over my driveway and garage

They said they would contact me within 72 hours about cleaning up the oil spill in my driveway and garage. 8 days later I have heard nothing and when I call the 1800 number I can not get connected. Please contact me asap.

On 6/13/25 at the Redondo Beach location on 190th, I went to get an oil change since the oil light and warning came on. I was told that I wasn't due for another 1,000 miles, and the worker reset my oil percentage to 100% from the 7% it was at.

The technician didn't check my oil or even look at my car; he just took the VIN.

I got an email on 6/18/25 that my oil change was overdue. On 7/19/25, my check engine light came on right before my car stopped accelerating mid-drive to work, and I had to call a tow truck and was told my car had no oil in the tank.

Jiffy lube has repeatedly denied my claim and told me to seek legal action if I want any resolution.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Jiffy Lube's flawed system lists an incorrect oil filter as compatible with my vehicle, and their refusal to take responsibility has cost me over $4,600 in repairs.

The Problem:

Their system wrongly lists an oil filter that is NOT compatible with the 2011 Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi, OF2222-MO10060. The correct filter is Mopar MO-899 or one similar in size and function. This incorrect filter was more than half the size of the OEM filter (see photos) and they used it in multiple oil changes, leading to severe oil pressure issues and catastrophic engine damage. The technicians followed their system, but the real failure lies with Jiffy Lube and their inaccurate parts database.

How Jiffy Lube Handled It:

They refused to acknowledge their mistake, even when I provided proof from a certified mechanic who confirmed the incorrect filter caused my engine issues (damaged lifters, camshaft, oil pressure switch, starter and 100% blocked oil screen from blown filter paper remnants requiring five oil flushes to clear). They ignored clear evidence proving the damage was caused by their system's error. They denied my claim completely, leaving me with thousands in repair bills due to their negligence.

Do Not Trust Jiffy Lube:

If they can't even get something as basic as an oil filter right, why would you trust them with your vehicle? Their refusal to take accountability proves that they don't care about their customers—only profits.

Spread the Word:

I'm warning everyone: go somewhere else. I'll be filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, Attorney General, Federal Trade Commission, and consumer protection agencies until Jiffy Lube is held accountable for their reckless negligence.

Safety Issue After Oil Change: Urgent Attention Requested

To whom it may concern,

I am filing a formal complaint regarding a safety-related incident caused by negligence during a routine oil change at your Jiffy Lube location at 2880 N Garey Ave, Pomona, CA 91767 (Store #3090) on June 25, 2025.

Shortly after leaving the location, my vehicle's undercarriage oil pan/filter shield detached while driving. It began violently scraping against the road surface, creating a clear traffic hazard and putting me and other drivers at risk. I immediately pulled over and temporarily secured the loose shield to avoid further damage, then returned to your facility.

Upon inspection, your team found that six bolts were missing. The explanation given was that they must have 'fallen out,' which is implausible and unacceptable. The bolts were replaced on the spot without any admission of fault.

To be clear:

My 2018 Honda Accord has never experienced any issues with this shield.

This component was completely secure before your service.

The vehicle has had regular maintenance and oil changes with multiple other providers, with no incidents.

This problem occurred immediately after your technicians performed the oil change.

This indicates a failure to properly reassemble vehicle components, and I believe it constitutes negligent service. The event posed a significant safety risk, created potential for property damage, and reflects a breakdown in your internal quality assurance protocols.

At this point, I am requesting:

A formal incident review and internal investigation report.

Written acknowledgment of the issue and responsibility taken by the store or franchise owner.

Confirmation that your technicians and team leads have been retrained on reinstallation procedures and final inspection standards.

Compensation or goodwill credit for the time, stress, and potential damage caused by this incident.

I am keeping all documentation, including the invoice, names of the staff involved, and photos of the failed component, should further escalation be needed. If I do not receive a satisfactory response within 7 business days, I will file complaints with the Better Business Bureau, California Bureau of Automotive Repair, and pursue all appropriate channels to ensure accountability.

I am still hoping this can be resolved directly and professionally. Thank you for your prompt attention.

Destroyed Oil Pan

Jiffy Lube employee cross threaded the Oil Pan Plug destroying the threading and creating an oil leak. Fortunately, I caught the issue at the local Toyota store before any engine damage was detected.

However, I had to pay for the replacement of both the Oil Pan and the necessary Labor at Toyota. Jiffy Lube has not reimbursed me for this cost and is trying to only reimburse the Oil Change itself...this is unacceptable.

Fraud attempt

I brought my car in for an inspection. The inspection agent there informed me that I need approximately $1600 worth of repairs because the car was unsafe.

He included suspension, exhaust, wiper replacement and license plate lamp replacement and more which I said I would consider. However, I then realized her removed my valid inspection sticker (valid for 3 weeks) forcing me to leave without my inspection sticker. I was fortunate that my mechanic reviewed my car and resolved. This is something that these franchises like Jiffy Lube to sabotage and hold customers hostage.

Do not get your car inspect here. Go to local mechanic with a good reputation.

On 9/16/2024 I went to Jiffy Lube 911 Greenville Ave. Staunton VA.

To get my yearly car State Inspection done.

When the inspector was doing his inspection, he stated that one of my bulbs on my rear license plate was not working.

I simply replied to please fix it, I prepared to pay him any extra needed for the repair. A few minutes later he said he could not get the bulb, so he rejected my car.

I was not happy about this rejection sticker being on my car for a bulb on my rear tag. I filed a complaint with the State Police and was contacted by an officer. The officer stated that they must remove the sticker from the car when inspected.

Fine, Im satisfied with his answer.

My question to you is, How can 1 bulb on the rear tag of my vehicle be a safety issue?? I could understand it if it was a brake light, front headlamp etc. that does hamper the ability to operate my vehicle in a safe manner.

The District manager called from Jiffy Lube on this issue, and I was told that they would order the bulb. I planned for my next day off to have them fix the issue and get a valid sticker on my car.

On 9/23/2024 I was there in the AM and het fixed the lamp and gave me my sticker.

They charged me $87.46 dollars!

You can subtract the $1.00 reinspection fee. REALLY??

I asked why so much and was told I had to replace the light assembly there was no bulb.

When I left Jiffy Lube I went straight to ORielly Auto parts and bought the REPLACE BULBS for a total of $8.41!

This inspector is representing the State Police!

Does not this Inspector have to have some knowledge of car repairs??

I believe this is a total scam!

I was at the Bethel Road location in Columbus, OH, store number 1291 today. They severely dented the side of my car and claimed they didn't do anything.

I need the video footage. It was not there when I took it in, as I had just checked tire pressures all around my car. Then, immediately following, they tried to get me to not look at one side of my car and there the huge dent was. Jiffy Lube needs to be responsible for this.

Please do not take your car to any Jiffy Lube. It is a horrible company.

I have contacted numerous numbers that have been given to me by the Jiffy Lube stores I had previously worked at trying to obtain copies of my 2024 W-2's and have gotten no where with no one at this point. I have been given a disconnected number which was 214-485-****, and another 800-344-**** that offers nothing but automated inquiries with no human communication what so ever!

Need to file a complaint

I went there to service my car(2008 RAV4), they charged me for 2 new Air filters and what I have next is a bunch of check engine all over my dashboard. They told me that it's my computer that gets damaged and bla bla bla.

I contacted my regular mechanic to diagnose the car and he told that my oil pump is damaged and the only thing he can do is to change the whole engine which cost $4700 to do.

I notified attorney generals office and better business bureau jiffy lube has avoided all calls emails and texts now I feel better knowing attorney general office has complaint!

Uncertified ,inexperienced and Managers that have the ability to stare you right in the face lie and say we did not do that it was like that. I actually watched the worker pour oil in wrong spot in my motor , I told manager he said you have oil leak that was there he had them clean it then I watched them run back and forth looking for filter to my car then I watched one worker pull the old filter and washer out of garbage go to his office and was about to put it back together in my oil filter cover, another worker came with new parts they took old items back off and placed with new.

After putting my car together I drove home next day to work 62 miles my car starting acting funny and bearing noise started. I broke down had car towed to real mechanic he said I have no oil in car. I filmed him removing oil canaster and he clearly shown me oil leaked out because jiffy line super stars placed oil seal ring on threads of canister instead where it is suppose to go in ring seat on canister. I made several complaints and have been given more stories from them than mother goose.

They know it would cost you more to attain lawyer than reimbursement so these monkeys get away with screwing you. But I realized for each person that reads my story and sees video and does not go to jiffy line of st James my I win that much money away from jiffy lube.

Karma and revenge is satisfying. My vehicle was inspected before going to jiffy lube of st James by REAL MECHANICS Trannyman of smithtown and Javi auto in port Jefferson for over one week between both mechanics because I just purchased the car a 2011 Cadillac cts coupe and they said no codes none dry no leaks then jiffy lube happened now my car has a failing #3 piston misfire due to damage I want jiffy lube of st James to pay by losing customers that is better than getting my toe bill and other charges back so dont give them any business boycott them its apparent it seems to be going on across the reviews
